Roy Eugene Jones

Roy Eugene Jones, longtime Perry resident, has gone to be with the Lord.

He was born on June 2, 1925, in Liman, OK, to Cumby and Nancy Viola (Johnson) Jones. When he was just 18 years old, he joined the U.S. Army where he fought against evil in World War II. He served in the Continental United States with the 126th combat engineers and in the 10th Mountain and experimental group. Roy assisted in the construction of bridges, cleared trails for the advance of infantry, and used explosives in changing roadways and trails.

He married the love of his life, Lillian Beier, on July 19, 1951, in Perry. He worked as a minister after moving to Edmond in 1970. He enjoyed hunting quail on horseback.

He was reunited in heaven with his parents, wife Lillian, brother Charlie Jones, and sister Letha Williams.

He leaves behind to mourn his loss his nephew, Ron Williams, and his wife of Del City, OK, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and lifelong friend Don Brewer.

Funeral services will be held at the pavilion at Grace Hill Cemetery in Perry at 3 p.m. on Tuesday October 10, 2023. Military funeral rites will be performed by the U.S. Army Color guard out of Fort Sill, OK.
