Mary Belle (Harman) Brandt

November 7, 1933 – September 13, 2023

Mary Belle Brandt, 89 years, went to her eternal home with the Lord on September 13, 2023, in Midland, Texas.

Born and raised in Perry, Oklahoma, Mary lived with her parents Meryl and Grace (Tate) Harman and her brother Charlie. She had a unique upbringing in Perry and loved to talk about it. Her Dad served as the Noble County Sheriff for over 30 years, and her mother’s (Tate) family farms located on the outskirts of town were originally part of the Oklahoma land run. The farms remained in the family for many years. Mary married her high school sweetheart Thomas Murray Brandt, and they were together for 70 years.

Mary was an exceptional example of love, kindness, and humility to all who knew her. She enjoyed serving in Habitat for Humanity, Houston’s Northwest Assistance Ministries, was an active member of Cypress Creek Christian Church, which included years of Bible Studies, Stephen’s ministry, and faithful prayer groups. Mary cherished the friendships made over the years at Champions Golf Club. As an active member of the Ladies Golf association, she held many positions during a lifetime of golf tournaments, committees, also serving as past president.

Mary was a loving wife and mother to three children, 6 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. Her home was always open to all with perfect guestrooms and plenty of homemade meals – including her famous apple pie. She moved frequently with her husband and children all over Oklahoma and Texas in the oil and gas business, finally settling the longest in Houston for over 30 years. Mary leaves behind two sons and their families: in Midland, Thomas Michael Brandt, wife Linda, granddaughter Kirsten Grace Kelley, husband Andrew, and sons Crawford, Cole, and Clayton; in Glen Rose, son Charles Tate Brandt, wife Jana, grandsons Logan, Jared, and Carter Brandt, wife Kelsey, and baby Grace; in Oklahoma City, grandson Michael Leon Brooks, wife Mary, and children Benjamin, Charlotte, Evelyn, Andrew, and Elizabeth.

Mary finally joins her husband Tom who passed 9 months prior; her daughter Brenda Lee Brooks d.1984, and grandson Mitchell Lee Brandt d.2012, along with her parents and brother.

A celebration of life honoring Tom and Mary with family and friends will be held on October 20, 2023, at Champions Golf Club in Houston from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m.
