Hazel Spillman
– daughter of Seth Spillman and was born in Perry. She has attended school in Sumner District 81 and in Perry. She is a member of the Girl Reserves, Home Economics club, glee club, games club and plans to teach Home Economics.
Hazel Naomi (Spillman) Chessmore
March 20, 1921 – October 19, 2023
Hazel Naomi Chessmore, formerly from Perry, Oklahoma passed away October 19, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was 102 years old.
Hazel was born on March 20, 1921, in Perry, Oklahoma to Seth and Lottie (Anglemeyer) Spillman. Hazel married Claude Chessmore on July 15, 1945 and together they raised two children.
Hazel was many things to many people…Loving wife, Mama (Youth Guider, Caregiver, Taxi Driver, Cheerleader, 4-H Leader), Friend and Neighbor. Perhaps the name she liked best was “Grannie”. She was a long time member of The Ladies of 76 Home Demonstration Club and also the Morrison Christian Church.
Survivors include: her daughter, Charlotte Burandt and her husband Richard; her son, Steve Chessmore and his wife Becky; grandchildren, Angela Loken, Sarah Eads, Heather Burandt, Kevin Chessmore, and Brigette Ellington; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held Tuesday, October 24, 2023, 11 a.m., at the Morrison Christian Church. Burial will be at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Sumner, OK.
