James Gray

– Sixteen year old James J. Gray, 522 Seventh, son of James V. Gray, was born at Marlow, Oklahoma, and attended school at Anadarko for four years and four years at Marietta before coming to Perry.

James was a member of the Baptist church, Boy Scouts and has been a member of the band four years.

He is the youngest boy in the 1944 class and also the youngest member of the class, not being 17 years old until January 21, 1945.

January 21, 1928 – February 10, 2008

James J. Gray, born to Rev. and Mrs. James V. Gray on January 21, 1928 in Marlow, OK, died Sunday, February 10, 2008.

He served in the Navy, enlisting at age 17. He was employed by The Traveler’s Insurance Company and retired as the regional manager for the Commercial Casualty Division. Jim then earned a law degree from Oklahoma City University and practiced law for over 20 years. James Gray was a proud Mason and member of Siloam 76, Valley Lodge 6, India Temple Shrine, the Royal Order of Jesters, and Jesters on Wheels.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, February 13, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell, OK.
