Johnnie Albert Sloan

April 19, 1932 – February 16, 2018

Johnnie Sloan, 85, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Friday, February 16, 2018, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital. He was born April 19, 1932, in Stillwater, Oklahoma, to the late John Harrison and Mary Ellen (Williams) Sloan.

He was a veteran of the Army and a paratrooper with the 11th Airborne. Johnnie was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Indiana University, and enjoyed fishing. He was a great husband, dad, and grandfather who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Johnnie is survived by his wife of 65 years, Peggy (Smith) Sloan; sons, Johnnie Sloan, Jr. (Cindy), Donald Sloan (Patty), and Brian Sloan (Irma); daughters, Sharon Schutz (Bret) and Dee Sloan; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Gary Sloan (Rosalyn); sister, Luella Skov; brother-in-law, Ken Smith, and beloved cat, Meco.

A funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m., Monday, February 19, 2018, at Alexander Memorial Park, Heritage Chapel, 2200 Mesker Park Drive, Evansville, Indiana, officiated by Rev. Doug Heiman, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park.
