Richard Doyle “Rick” Betchan

August 29, 1956 – August 15, 1983

The four members of the Richard Doyle Betchan family were fatally injured in a traffic accident at 6 p.m. Monday, August 15, 1983. Fatally injured were Richard Doyle Betchan, 26, his wife, Cheryl Jean Betchan, 25, and their two children, Jacob Lee Betchan, 4, and Brian Richard Betchan, 2.

Richard Doyle Betchan was born Aug. 29, 1956, at Perry, the son of Mr. and Mr.s Doyle “Pete” Betchan. He was a 1974 graduate of Perry high school and on June 21, 1975, married Cheryl Jean Wilson at Hammon, Oklahoma. Betchan was a pumper for the KWB company and was a member of the United Methodist church of Lucien.

He is survived by his parents, of Perry; two brothers, Jack W. and Don, both of Perry; a sister, Mrs. Walter (Marilyn) Mills, Perry; and his grandmother, Mrs. Mae Breuninger, Stillwater.

Funeral for all four will be at 11 am Thursday at the First United Methodist church at Lucien. Officiating will be Rev. Larry Brown, pastor of the Lucien church. Burial will be at Morris Heights cemetery three miles south of Orlando and a short distance east. A memorial has been established for the United Methodist church of Lucien.
