– daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Longacre of 925 Cedar street. She clerked in a store during her high school career. She won many outstanding honors which make her career in school plus the outside activities all the more unique.

She was a vice president of the National Honor Society; secretary-treasurer of her home room in the senior class; in the operetta in 1938 and on the student council in 1938.

She likes to collect old coins and sew. She is undecided as to the future.

Dixie Louise (Carter) Nicewander, 102, passed away on Monday, August 5, 2024, in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

Dixie was born in Blackburn, OK, to Henry and March (Drake) Carter on November 22, 1921, and passed away on August 5, 2024, in Stillwater, OK. Dixie’s mother passed away when she was very young; she was then raised by Charles and Villa (Carter) Longacre in Perry, OK. She graduated from Perry High School in 1939 and married Earl Nicewander.

They were blessed with three children: Earlene, Joyce, and Bill, all raised in Perry, OK. Dixie was active in the First Christian Church of Perry as a Sunday school teacher, youth leader, and women’s fellowship member and sang in the choir. She worked 20 years in Operation Blessing helping with disabled citizens. Dixie volunteered for many years as a hairdresser for both of Perry’s nursing home facilities.

She loved her family dearly and always had an open door for visits with the grandkids. She always had cookies ready and cheerfully would make her famous pancakes for any meal, when asked! Dixie had a great passion for painting and family members were given paintings throughout the years.

She is survived by her son-in-law Cecil Loveless of Perry, OK. Grandchildren: Mike Rice of Oklahoma City, Dixie Vane of California, Jaymi Fuentes of Edmond, OK, Joanne and Larry Kindschi of Morrison, OK, Deanna Loveless of Billings, OK, Cecil and Donna Loveless of Billings, OK, Rex and Ruthie Nicewander of Edmond, OK, Regan Nicewander of New York, and Nicole and Waylan Broussard of Oklahoma City.

Great-grandchildren: Corey and Sierra Vane of California, Sedona Vane of California, Brianna and Natalie Fuentes of Oklahoma City, Mason and Layden Broussard of Oklahoma City, Nathan Thompson and Kim Kelly of Weatherford, OK, Justin Kindschi of Florida, Crystal Kindschi of Perry, OK, and Lacy Loveless of Billings, OK.

Great-great-grandchildren: Cody and Parker Vane of California, Liam and Naomi Nicewander of Edmond, OK, Justin, Syrain and Saphire Loveless of Billings, OK, Kenya Kindschi of Florida, Louise Thompson of Weatherford, OK, and Callie Maskus of Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her husband Earl Nicewander and children Earlene Glass, Joyce Loveless and Bill Nicewander, and siblings Leonard Nicewander, Melva Carter, Madge Carter, Marie Carter, and Hal Carter, and her parents.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Perry.
