Walter Lee Ransom

January 31, 1885 – June 15, 1939

Walter Ransom, 55, died on Thursday evening at his home in Sapulpa, Okla. His death follows a long illness.

He was born on January 31, 1885, in New York to Charles and Edith (Holt) Ransom. When a small child he moved to Oklahoma with his parents. His father for a number of years was a prominent lawyer and rancher in the Perry vicinity.

He graduated from Perry high school in 1904 and continued his education at Oklahoma University. Mr. Ransom was a charter member of the University of Oklahoma chapter of Kappa Sigma fraternity.

He became an attorney and began his practice in Sapulpa before his marriage in 1910 to the former Miss Edith Simpson, daughter of Mrs. R. D. Simpson of Perry.

Funeral services will be held in Sapulpa on Saturday after which the body will be brought to Perry for burial in the Grace Hill cemetery. Short services will be conducted at the Grace Hill cemetery, with a minister from Sapulpa in charge.

He is survived by his widow, one daughter, Mrs. Majorie Willis, of McAlester, his mother and two sisters of Ponca City.
