Alice M. (Barnes) Ritthaler

May 24, 1885 – January 20, 1919

Alice M. Ritthaler, was born in Brown County, Kansas, May 24, 1885, and died at Perry, Oklahoma, January 20th, 1919. Death was caused by a sudden attack of influenza.

When a girl she came with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Barnes, of Perry and settled on a farm two miles east of Perry. She attended Perry High school graduating with honors in 1906. On February 17, 1909, she was united in marriage to Frank F. Ritthaler, a popular and prosperous young farmer of Noble Township where together they resided upon his farm up to the time of her death. To this happy union were born three children, Emma Marie, William Richard and Rettie Elizabeth, the youngest a babe of eighteen months.

Deceased was a earnest and devote member of the Christian Church, she having united with that church at the age of eleven and becoming identified and an active member of the First Christian Church of Perry soon after her arrival to the community.

The funeral held from the Barnes home on Wednesday, was conducted by the Rev. George Dennis, and attended by many relatives and a score of friends from the city and community. Relatives attending from out of town were Mrs. W. E. Sawyer of Brown County, Kansas, Mrs. Grace Wolfley of Grand Island, Nebraska, M.L. Barnes and wife of Guthrie and Albert Barnes and wife of Guthrie, Lee and Henry Ritthaler and Kate Weid of Rocky Ford, Colorado. The last three mentioned are brothers and sister of Mr. Ritthaler, and August Ritthaler a brother of Wichita, Kansas.
