Active duty with the navy air corps is scheduled soon for Jack Leonard Wilson, of 126 Cedar street, who graduates next week with the class of ’43.

Jack is 17 years old and was born in Perry. He attended the local elementary school before entering PHS. A member of the letterman’s club, he has been on the football squad for four years and on the basketball team for three years.

An all-around student, Wilson was a member of the cast of the junior and senior class plays and served as secretary-treasurer for his class in the 10th and 11th grades.

In DeMolay, Jack is senior steward. He is also a member of the student council.

Jack Leonard Wilson

November 14, 1925 – June 20, 1988

Jack Wilson, 62, a native of Perry, died June 20, 1988, at the Fairfax hospital in Falls Church, Virginia.

Wilson was the son of the late Jim and Alta (Winton) Wilson of Perry. He entered the United States Navy shortly after his graduation from Perry high school in 1943. He made a career of Naval service and was retired from the Navy.

On October 16, 1959, he and Marot Melnick were married, in Arlington, VA.

Among survivors are his wife, Margot Wilson, of the home, 8611 Battareles Court, Annandale, Virginia, and two sisters, Gloria McRae, Palacios, Texas, and Billie Briscoe, Edwardsville, Kan.

Funeral services were held in Virginia and burial was at the Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.
