Jean Anne Corr plans to enter the University of Oklahoma after graduation from Perry high school. She is the 17-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Corr, 727 Holly street. Born Oct. 3, 1938, in Tonkawa, Jean Anne came to Perry in 1946 after attending school in Edmond. She is a member of the National Honor society, the band, Teen Town council, and treasurer of the Future Teachers association. Jean Anne also has appeared in several school performances.

Jean Anne Corr Cochrane, an esteemed educator and devoted family woman, passed away peacefully from natural causes on August 17, 2024, in Norman, Oklahoma.

Born on October 3, 1938, in Tonkawa, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Bert and Rowina Corr. She graduated from Perry high school in 1956 and continued her education at Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Oklahoma, where she earned her undergraduate degree in Education. She later obtained a Master’s in Elementary Education and a Master’s in Reading from the University of Central Oklahoma (formerly Central State University). Jean dedicated her career to public education, teaching in McLoud, Altus, and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Jean met her husband, Ted, while studying at Oklahoma Baptist University. They married in Perry, Oklahoma, on August 30, 1958. Together, she and Ted raised their family in Edmond, Oklahoma, until his passing in 1991.

After 35 years of teaching in public schools, Jean retired in 1994 and moved to Norman, Oklahoma, to be closer to her family and grandchildren. She became actively involved as a member and volunteer at the First Baptist Church, the First Christian Church, the Norman Public Library, and most notably as a docent and volunteer at The Sam Noble Museum at The University of Oklahoma.

Her life was marked by an unwavering commitment to education, family, and community.

Jean was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Ted Cochrane; her son, Michael Cochrane; and her brother, Bill Corr of Palm Springs, California.

She is survived by her sons, Bill Cochrane and his wife Carole, along with their son Carter; and Jim Cochrane and his wife Kathy, with their daughter Hannah and son Ethan. Jean also leaves behind her brothers, Bert Corr of Poteau, Oklahoma, Ed Corr of Norman, Oklahoma, and an extended family of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

The family will celebrate her life at a 2:00 p.m. service on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at the First Christian Church, 220 S. Webster Ave, in Norman, Oklahoma.
