Northern Oklahoma college is the school chosen by Tommy Dale Hughes after graduation. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Hughes, route 3, Perry. He was born Sept. 14, 1949. He attended Lone Elm school in the first and second grades. He was active in football 1965-67; wrestling 196-66; Future Farmers of America 1963-67; vice president of F.F.A. 1966-67, and served on the junior play stage committee. Agriculture is his favorite subject and horseback riding is his hobby.
Tommy Dale “Tom” Hughes

Tommy Dale Hughes, known by his friends and family as Tom, passed away January 14, 2025, at his home northeast of Perry.
Born September 14, 1949, he was the son of Theo Hughes and Flora (Howell) Hughes. He was reared in Perry and attended Perry Public Schools from where he graduated high school. He continued his education at Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa.
He retired from The Charles Machine Works with a total of 48 years of employment.
Tom loved fishing, reading, watching television and grilling.
He married Mary Williams Hunt, the mother of his two sons and daughter: Tracy Hughes (Katie) of Tonkawa, Justin Hughes of Perry, and Deidra Huewitt (Tobiaus), Muncie, IN.
On October 5, 1982, in Wichita, Kansas, Tom married Vanessa Pointer Hughes. They have made their home in Perry.
Survivors include his wife, Vanessa, of the home; his children, Tracy Hughes (Katie), Justin Hughes, and Deidra Huewitt (Tobiaus); grandchildren: Lucas Brown, Tyquestt Dennis, Eliana Bender, Ky Hughes, Parker Hughes, Bailey Hughes Holt (Lacy Holt), Braelynn Dennis; and great grandchildren: Ben Stoll, Ma’Lanni Dennis and Kingston Dennis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Jim Hughes and sister-in-law, Maxine Hughes; nephew Randy Hughes; and the mother of his children: Mary Hunt.
