Opal Luella (Lovell) Cross

May 17, 1907 – July 22, 1939

Mrs. Opal Luella Lovell Cross, 32, resident of Kevil, Kentucky, died on July 22 after suffering for a period of three months with malta fever after an extended illness.

Born on May 17, 1907, at Hagerman, Chaves, New Mexico, she was the daughter of Ira Manford and Minnie Fabitha Ash Lovell. She graduated from Perry high in 1926.

She and Harry Robert Cross were married on March 5, 1927, in Perry. The couple lived in Perry prior to their move to Kentucky where they lived for the last nine years. To this union two children were born, Alice Marie and Robert Leroy.

Mrs. Cross was a member and active worker of the McKenzie M. E. Church at Kevil, Kentucky. She was the teacher of the little folds’ class in the church and president of the Missionary Society and Homemaker Club.

Besides her husband and children, she is survived by her parents of Belleville, Texas; five sisters, Mrs. W. O. Gould, Belleville, Tex., Mrs. H. Heppler, Mulhall, Okla., Mrs. Troy Powell, Salinas, Cal., Mrs. Robert Melugin, Kildare, Okla., and Miss Thelma Lovell of Belleville, Tex.; and three brothers, Otis Lovell, Belleville, Tex., Foster Lovell, Stronghurst, Ill., and William Lovell, Maysville, Ark.

Funeral services will be held at McKendree church Tuesday at 2 p.m. Burial will be at the McKendree United Methodist Church Cemetery, Heath, Kentucky.
