Emily Julianne Ziesche Pett

March 5, 1907 – March 30, 1998

Emily Julianne Pett, 91, of Garden Grove, California, died Monday, March 30, 1998, of natural causes.

Born March 5, 1907, in Perry, she was the daughter of Sigmund and Lydia Bergstrasser Ziesch. Following her graduation from Perry high she enroll for special work in summer school at Oklahoma A. & M. college.

Prior to her marriage on August 3, 1937, to Rev. Herbert Herman Pett, pastor of the Salem Lutheran church in Stillwater and Zion Lutheran church of Perry, she taught at the Noble county rural schools. Mrs. Pett was very active as a pastor’s wife and the couple were blessed with three children, Mary Louise, Linda, and Victor. The family moved to Wellington, Kansas in 1949, where Rev. Pett was a pastor at St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Rev. Pett died an untimely death at the age of 45 from a heart ailment. After his death the family moved to Garden Grove, California, where Emily resumed her career in teaching until her retirement.

In addition to her husband, her daughter, Mary Louise, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her daughter, Linda Bjork; son, Victor; sisters, Agnes Hiatt and Esther Hinrichs; brother, Carl Ziesch; and one grandchild.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Garden Grove, California. Interment will be at the Fairhaven Memorial Park, Santa Ana, California.
