Tamara Ann (Yost) Iske

August 22, 1968 – January 29, 2025

Tamara Ann Iske died on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at her home from an accidental fall.

She was born on August 22, 1968, in Stillwater, Oklahoma, with cerebral palsy. She graduated from Perry High School, Perry, Oklahoma in 1987. After graduation, she moved to Norman, Oklahoma, where she met and married a wonderful person, Glen David Iske, on June 8, 1996. They were very happily married and enjoyed driving to Stillwater for every Oklahoma State University football game and some basketball games as well, until David’s death on July 19, 2017. She was a very dedicated Christian, attending Bethel Baptist Church in Norman every Sunday morning.

Although she was in a wheelchair all of her life, she was able to live independently with the help of her aide, Deodra, whose friendship she treasured and who she loved as family. Tamara was active in the Norman community and proudly served on several boards and committees. She served on the CART Advisory Committee for ten years, once as Vice Chair, and she served on the board of Progressive Independence.

Survivors include: her mother, Sharon K. Yost; her father, Harvey D. Yost II and his wife Donna Occhipinti Yost; her brother, Harvey D. “Trey” Yost III, her sister-in-law, Melissa Yost, their children, Kate and Donovan; her brother-in-law, Mark Iske, her sister-in-law, Celine Iske, and their children, Jessica and Cameron. She was also survived by her dog, Sugar, who has been adopted by Tamara’s friend, Stephanie.

Preceding her in death were: her husband; her uncle, M. Sidney Yost; and her grandparents, H. Donovan Yost and Sara Stanley Yost of Billings, Oklahoma, and Wayne Selvey and Cora Selvey of Tonkawa, Oklahoma.

Her life will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at the Bethel Baptist Church, 1717 West Lindsey Street in Norman, with a private family burial to follow at Union Cemetery, near Billings, Oklahoma.
