Marie Sula (Umburn) Patry

Marie Sula Patry, 90, died Friday, March 4, 1994, at Wichita, Kansas.
Born in West Virginia on January 23, 1904, she was the daughter of Hanry Crum and Maud Bell Harris Umburn. Even though the family lived at the Roxana Company’s operation in the Garber Covington oil field in Garfield County, Oklahoma, Marie attended Perry high for three years and graduated in 1922. She also passed the teacher’s examination and, at her graduation, was awarded a county certificate to teach up to 3rd grade.
On November 5, 1926, she and Leonard Arch Party, a native of Wichita, Kansas were married at Oklahoma City. He worked in the oil field, beginning as a roustabout, then pumper, and finally superintendent for Shell Oil Company. The couple moved many times in both Oklahoma and Kansas. Leonard died in 1971.
Services will be March 9, 11 a.m. at the Resthaven Mortuary, Wichita, Kansas. Burial will be at the Resthaven Gardens of Memory, Wichita.
