Phyllis Mae (Cermak) Rudd
September 16, 1939 — February 17, 2025
Phyllis Mae Rudd passed away peacefully on February 17, 2025, in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
Born in Perry, Oklahoma on September 16, 1939, she was the daughter of Joe Marvin and Irene Mae Ryan Cermak. A proud graduate of Perry High School in the spring of 1957, Phyllis embarked on a career as an administrator, showcasing her dedication and professionalism in the insurance business.
She was an avid knitter and crocheter who produced some of the most striking crocheted and knitted items. Phyllis enjoyed sewing and making beautiful quilts for her family.
Preceding her in death were her father, Joe Marvin Cermak, and her mother, Irene Mae Cermak (maiden name Ryan), as well as her beloved partner, Melvin Ekstrom. She also mourned the loss of her son, James Darrell Hotson.
Phyllis is survived by her children, Marvin Dwayne Hotson and wife Cheryl Hotson of Perry, OK, and Brenda Diana (Hotson) ZumMallen and husband Robert ZumMallen of Pueblo, CO.
She took immense pride in her grandchildren, including Dennis Hotson of Stillwater, OK, Jason Hotson and wife Brenda of Perry, OK, Aron Hotson and wife Stephanie of Hopkinsville, KY, Sheena Hotson of Tulsa, and Darreal Williams of Norman, OK, whose lineage continues to flourish.
The legacy of Phyllis lives on through her great-grandchildren: Colton Gunnar Hotson of OKC, OK; Levi Hotson and wife Lyric of Perry, OK; Trenton Hotson of Perry, OK; Brianna Hotson Chantnacran and husband George of Perry, OK; and Caydence Hotson and Donavan Hotson of Hopkinsville, KY, Preston Drennan and Curtis Flick of KY, and River Williams of Holdenville, OK, Kaidence Williams-Spear of Lawton, OK , and Cayson Schneider of Perry, OK.
Phyllis’s family tree continues to grow, with great-great-grandchildren that include Evelyn and Aiden Hotson of Perry, OK, Remi and Ryleigh Lou Hotson of Perry, OK, and Luka Chantnacran of Perry, OK.
Graveside service will be on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 10 a.m. at the Bohemian Cemetery outside of Perry, Oklahoma.
