Kate A. (Hartung) Parker
April 27, 1903 – July 21, 1989
Kate Parker, 86, 301 Eleventh street, Perry, died at 2:30 a.m. Friday at West Lake Nursing home in Oklahoma City.
Born in Garfield county on April 27, 1903, she was the daughter of Ed and Bessie Hartung. She graduated from Perry high school in 1923 and began teaching at rural schools.
In September, 1925 she and fellow PHS alumni, Ernest Mewherter, were married in Pittsburg, Penn. The couple was blessed with a daughter. Following their divorce, Kate began working as a waitress.
On May 9, 1944, she and Eddie Parker were married. The Parkers owned and operated the Kumback Lunch until he retired in 1968. Mrs. Parker was owner/operator of the business until 1973.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Parker was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Survivors include one daughter, Norman June Hall, Edmond; a sister, Amy Loveless, Perry; and several grandchildren.
Graveside rites will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Grace Hill cemetery with Rev. Jim Dunkin, pastor of the First Presbyterian church, officiating. Burial will be at Grace Hill cemetery, Perry. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Firs Presbyterian church.
