Former Perry community resident Marguerite A. McGehee, 90, died Monday at her home at 31 Preston Circle at Stillwater, Oklahoma.
Born in Stillwater, on Feb. 17, 1897, she was the daughter of John Lee and Rebecca (Hill) McGehee. She attended Perry elementary and high schools. She later attended the University of Southern California and received her degree from Oklahoma State university.
Active in the teaching profession for 37 years she taught at the Otoe school, over a decade at the Marland school, one year in the music department of Allison James school in Santa Fe, N.M., and taught 16 years at McKinley school in Ponca City. She retired in the spring of 1962.
She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, the Past Matron club, was past worthy high priestess of the Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, a member of the Past Officers club of the White Shrine and the Oklahoma State White Shrine. Miss McGehee was a charter member of the Past Royal Matrons of Amaranth and the State Royalty club of Amaranth.
Survivors include two sisters, Elva McGehee, of the home; and Nellie Clark, Stillwater; a nephew, Donald McGehee, Stillwater; a niece, Evelyn Smith, Bartlesville; three great-nephews, two great-nieces, two great-great nephews and four great-great-nieces.
Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at the chapel of Strode Funeral home at Stillwater with Rev. Randy McGehee will officiating. Burial will be at Grace Hill cemetery at Perry at 4 p.m. Thursday.
