Max W. Boyer, 89, of San Antonio, Texas, died May 03, 1995.
Born in Garland, Kansas on October 27, 1905, he was the son of Irma S. and Olive McMillan Boyer. Following his graduation from Perry high school in 1924, he attended the University of Oklahoma and Cumberland University Law School. He was admitted to the Oklahoma Bar in 1929 and the Texas Bar in 1930, moving to Perryton, Texas to establish a practice after graduation.
On August 27, 1932, he and Addye Hicks, a member of the Perryton school faculty, were married in Amarillo, Texas. To this union one son was born.
Boyer served as an attorney in Perryton until his appointment to the 84th Judicial District Court in 1957, and remained on the bench until his retirement in 1974.
He served as Ochiltree County Attorney and also as the city attorney for the City of Perryton. He was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives.
In addition, Boyer served as president of the Northeast Panhandle Bar Association, was a director of Interstate Savings and Loan, a member of the Lions Club and a Mason. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Perryton. Upon his retirement in 1974, the couple moved to San Antonio, where he was a member of the Wincrest United Methodist Church.
Predeceasing him was his wife, Addye, in 1984.
He is survived by one son, Don Boyer of San Antonio; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be Monday, May 8, at 11:00 a.m. in First United Methodist Church in Perryton, Texas with Rev. Todd Dyess officiating. Burial will follow in Ochiltree Cemetery, Perryton, Texas. The family suggests memorials to the Ranger Loan Fund.
