Wilbur Maynard McMeekin

April 7, 1904 – September 8, 1940

Wilbur M. McMeekin, 36, Portland, Texas, was fatally injured Saturday night while working at an oil field lease west of Aransas Pass.

Born in Perry, Oklahoma, on April 7, 1904, he was the son of James C. and Mary Dell “May” Trump McMeekin. He graduated from Perry high in 1924.

On September 29, 1928, he and Dolly Hamilton were married in Maud, Oklahoma. To this union three sons were born.

At the time of his death he was working as a drilling inspector for Manahan Drilling Company.

Survivors include: his widow; three sons, James Leroy, Paul Maynard, and Joey Milton McMeekin, all of the home; and three sisters, Ethel Dando of Baytown, Texas, Olive Horne of Tulsa, and Frances Gilbert of Stillwater.

Funeral services will be held at 3 o’clock this afternoon at Cage-Mills Funeral Home with the Rev. M. F. Louis and the Rev. J. P. Graham officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Corpus Christi, Texas.
