Beatrice Lee Long
– 17-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. V. C. Long, was born in Maple, Oklahoma. She attended the Seminole, Oklahoma City, Ada, and Shawnee schools. For the past two and one-half years she has attended the Perry school.
She held various school offices at Ada, including presidency of the freshman class, and was secretary of the band.
Beatrice was a member of the band at Shawnee, Order of Rainbow, and the Red Hot Pep club of Perry high school. Hobbies are gathering what-nots and making a scrap book.
She was a member of the p0lay cast of “What a Life.” She had a three-year perfect attendance record at Ada.
She plans to attend Oklahoma University or Tyler Business college, Tyler, Texas.
Beatrice Lee (Long) Parrish
May 23, 1922 – May 13, 1993
Beatrice Lee Parrish, 70, died May 13, 1993, in her home in Springfield, Missouri.
Born in Maple, Oklahoma, on May 23, 1922, she was the daughter of Vernon Cedric and Viola Hazel Cates Long. Following her graduation from Perry high school, she went to Chillicothe Business College in Chillicothe, Mo.
In 1942, she married Wilbur F. Parrish, who preceded her in death in 1987.
A former resident of Belton, Missouri, she and her husband owned and operated Por Wilbur’s Restaurant. In 1977, they retired to Reeds Spring. In 1991, she moved to Springfield.
She had been active in Beta Sigma Phi, Eastern Star, Schweitzer United Methodist Women, and St. John’s Auxiliary.
Survivors include her daughter, Jo Ann Buster and husband, Thomas, Reeds Spring; a son, Bill J. Parrish and wife, Michelle, Warrensburg; and three grandchildren, Brian Buster, and Laura and Kristin Parrish.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday with the Rev. Jonathan Cooney officiating in Springfield National Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Schweitzer United Methodist Church.
