Letha May (Campbell) McGee

Letha McGee, 93, passed away September 22, 2016.

Born on December 25, 1922, she was the daughter of Melvin Alexander “Mell” and Gladys Mae Goodrich Campbell. Following her graduation from Perry high school in 1942 she moved to Ponca City, Oklahoma, to attended a preparatory training course to work in an airplane factory.

On February 10, 1943, Letha and Robert “Olen” McGee were married at the Baptist Church in Wichita, Kansas, where they made their home. At the time of their marriage Olen worked for the Boeing Defense Plant, but by 1965 he was serving as president of the L & S Machine Co., Inc., an aircraft and missile parts manufacturing firm. Olen preceded her in death in 2015 after 71 years of marriage.

Preceding her in death, in addition to her husband, were her parents, brother, sister, and son, Bob McGee.

Survivors include: her children, Neil (Karol) McGee, Christine Gilliam and Connie McGee; seven grandchildren, Sean McGee, Kelly McGee, Justin Lee, Lisa Shellhammer, Stacy Wessley, Jack Smith, and Brent McGee; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, at Cochran Mortuary, 1411 N. Broadway, Wichita, Kansas, with burial at Resthaven Cemetery, Wichita. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, 3101 N. Coolidge Ave. Wichita, 67204.
