Although only 17 years old and therefore not eligible for selective service, J. C. Kennedy has already made plans for entering the army shortly after graduation from Perry high school this spring.

The son of Cecil V. Kennedy of route two, Perry, J. C. has attended the local high school for four years and previously was a student at Orlando. He was born in Caviness, Texas.

Kennedy was a member of the wrestling squad this year, as well as the Future Farmers of America chapter.

Jamie Cecil Kennedy, 91, died on July 1, 2017, in Orlando, Florida.

Born in Caviness, Texas, on October 6, 2025, he was the son of Cecil V. and Florence Janet McCracken Kennedy. He graduated from Perry high school in 1942 and entered the United State Navy in November, 1943.

Immediately following his discharge he and Helen Louise Dietzel were married on June 15, 1946, in Florida, where they made their home. The couple were blessed with three sons. Helen died in 1996.

Jamie worked for many years for Owens and Minor Corporation where he retired as vice president. He was a member of Conway Methodist Church in Orlando, Florida.

Survivors include: 3 children; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and 1 great, great grandchild.
