Seventeen different grade schools in six different states – Missouri, Texas, Washington, California, and Oregon – prepared Edythe Ann Davis for attendance at Perry’s junior and senior high school.

Eighteen years of age, she was born in Portland, Oregon, and has traveled through 36 states.

Edythe Anne is secretary of her home room this year. Playing in the Maroon band and participating in school plays have been other school activities.

She plans to go into defense work after school is finished.

Edythe Anne (Davis) Wills

August 18, 1924 – February 23, 2013

Edythe (Edie) Anne Wills, 88, passed away February 23, 2013, in Granview, Missouri.

Born in Portland, Oregon, on August 18, 1924, she was the daughter of Charles and Anna Viola Gertrude (Hutton) Davis. Her mother died in 1935 and Edythe came to Perry where she lived with the Virgil Walkling family. She graduated from Perry high school in 1943. While in high school she also took a Red Cross nursing course where she earned a certificate and pin.

Following high school, she moved to Oklahoma City where she worked for Southwestern Bell as a long distance telephone operator. On January 20, 1944, she and T-Sgt. Earl Herman Wills were married at Watonga, Oklahoma. Earl continued his career in the military. Consequently, they lived many places including Iran and Germany. Earl died in 1981.

Edie had numerous accomplishments, world travels and never met a stranger, but more importantly had loving family and friends.

Preceding her in death were: her mother; Grandpa Joe Hutton; husband; newborn son, Kim Anthony Wills; and son-in-law.

Survivors include: two daughters, Anna S. Burgin and Leslee M. Tusay; one son, Earl J. C. Wills; one son in-law; one daughter-in-law; five grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and one great-great grandson.

Services will be private. Burial will be at the Oakwood Memorial Cemetery, Oakwood, Oklahoma.
