Born Dec. 18, 1940, in Guthrie, he has attended Buthrie and Perry schools. Vernon has participated in basketball and like shop the best among his subjects at Perry high.
Vernon Ray Hopper

Vernon Hopper, 59, Perry, Oklahoma, died Monday, Sept. 25, 2000, at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Born at the family home, two miles south of Guthrie, Oklahoma, on Dec. 18, 1940, he was the son of Raymond Sayre and Edrena Ordella Egbert Hopper. Vernon came to Perry in 1958, where he graduated from Perry high school in 1959.
He attended Oklahoma State university for a time and was employed by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, before he was inducted to the armed forces in April, 1963.
On July 27, 1991, he and the former Tawnda Grim were married in Perry.
Hopper was retired from the Oklahoma Depoartment of Transportation and, at the time of his death, was employed at EZ Drill of Perry.
In addition to being a veteran of the United States Army, he was a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of the Elks Lodge, and a member of Classic Cars of Ponca City. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Tawnda, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Travis and Kelli Hopper, Okeene, OK; a daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Clay Wilson, Perry; a son, Brandon Bolay, Perry; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Susan Hopper, Yukon, OK; a sister and brother-in-law, Verna and Jene Lowry, London, AR; a sister, Fran Beasley, Edmond, OK; a sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Lenney Sadler, Amarillo, TX; and four grandchildren, Connor and Pearce Hopper, Okene, OK and Hailey and Tanner Vaughan, Perry; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29, 2000, at the First United Methodist Church in Perry with Rev. Mark Barnett officiating. Burial will be in Grace Hill cemetery. Memorials may be made to United Methodist Circle of Care.
