– 18, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Longacre of 925 Cedar street. He was born February 25, 1928, in Perry, and has always attended school here.
Leonard has been in the band since 1941 and in 1943-44 was a home room officer and member of the student council. He belongs to the DeMolay and has gone out for wrestling.
Following graduation he expects to enter the armed forces but later will attend college.
Leonard Charles Longacre
February 25, 1928 – November 18, 1994
Leonard C. Longacre, 66, of Treasure Island, Florida, died Friday, November 18, 1994, at St. Anthony’s Hospital.
Born in Perry, Oklahoma on February 25, 1928, he was the son of Charles Austin and Villa Dona Drake Longacre. Following his graduation from Perry high, he enrolled at Oklahoma A. & M. where he graduated in 1950 with a bachelor’s degree in animal husbandry.
At the completion of his education the Korean War was just starting. Leonard was called to military service, serving from September 4, 1950, through August 13, 1952, in the Army.
On September 6, 1952, he and Helen Stegeman were married in Jefferson City, Missouri. Leonard’s 33 year career with Beneficial Finance took the couple throughout Missouri and Kansas. At the time of his retirement in 1986 they lived in Hutchinson, Kansas.
They spent their retirement years living at Treasure Island, Florida.
He was a Christian and a member of American Legion and the Moose Lodge.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Helen M.; a daughter, Lisa M. Longacre, Treasure Island; and a sister, Dixie Nicewander, Perry.
