-17, is the son of Mrs. Nettie Murphy of 35 Jackson street. He was born August 29, 1928, in Perry and has always attended local schools.

Bobby was on the student council in 1941-42 and last year served as a member of the Teen-Town council. He has been home room president since 1944 and has gone out for wrestling since 1942.

He hope to go to college unless inducted into service.

Bobby Gene Murphy

Bobby Gene Murphy, age 79, of Houston, Texas, passed away on Thursday, August 30, 2007.

Born in Perry, on August 29, 1928, he was the son of Wesley Delmus and Nettie McNeil Murphy. He graduated from Perry high in 1946 and enrolled in the School of Commerce at Oklahoma A. & M., Stillwater. Bobby he was named to the dean’s honor roll, and graduated in May, 1950. During the time he was a student, he joined the Perry national guard unit.

On July 28, 1950, he and fellow PHS alumni, Rosemary Lu Swart, were married at Comanche, Oklahoma. Within 2 months he received a draft notice to report for military service. He served his country in the U. S. Army.

He and Rosemary divorced in 2000.

Bobby worked as a petroleum engineer.

One of the hobbies he enjoyed was composing poetry.

Memorial services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 4, 2007 at Ashford United Methodist Church, 2201 S. Dairy Ashford in Houston.
