Another prospective Aggie is Robert L. Swart, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Swart of 627 Kaw street, who plans to enroll at Oklahoma A. & M. college after graduating from Perry high school. Robert was born Aug. 2, 1934, in Perry, and attended Christ Lutheran school before entering city public schools. He has been in the band since 1947, was on the student council in 1947-48, and took part in distributive education last years. He was in a class play as a ninth grader.

Robert Leon Swart died on April 10, 2025.

Born in Perry, Oklahoma on August 2nd, 1934, he was the son of Ted and Mary Ruth (Gross) Swart. Robert was introduced to his grade school band when he got his first band instrument – a cornet. He played the cornet from 7th to 12th grade in the Perry High School band and continued playing throughout college. Following his high school graduation in 1952, he continued his education at A&M College, now known as Oklahoma State University, graduating in 1957.

On May 30, 1957, he and Barbara Ann Groom were married. Five children were born to their union: Steven Douglas, Michael Lee, Curtis Allen, James Dean, and Karin Diane.

When he and Barbara moved Kingfisher, they opened the Dairy Land and ran it for almost 10 years and owned different drive ins for several years after. In 1964, he built his first house and continued Robert Swart Construction through his early 80’s.

He stayed active in the church, and he had a close relationship with God. An avid golfer, he played throughout his life. He was a member of many card clubs and loved playing dominoes for over sixty years.

Preceding him in death were: his parents, Ted and Mary Ruth Swart; a sister, Roberta, and brother, Jerry.

Survivors include: his wife, Barbara; his children, Steven and spouse Derek, Michael and wife Julie, Curtis and wife Susan, Jim and wife Bridgett, and Karin and husband Bob; grandchildren, Lauren and husband Aaron, Jacob, Emma, McCauley, Sarah and husband Dalton, Matthew, Brandon and wife Megan, Brittany and husband Matt, Bradon, Jay, Anna and husband Trent, Robby, and Kelly; and 10 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10:30am, Thursday, April 17 at Church of the Nazarene in Kingfisher, Oklahoma with burial at 2:30pm at Grace Hill Cemetery in Perry, Oklahoma.
