– has served two terms on the student council, in 1954-55 and 1955-56. She is the 18-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jess L. Keller, 1106 Sixth street. Mary Louise was born December 5, 1939 in Guthrie, but has attended only Perry schools. In addition to the student council, she has been in the band and Red Hots, served on the library staff and has been in class assemblies. Her hobby is collecting popular records. Shorthand is her favorite subject, and she plans to attend college or business school

Mary Louise (Keller) Smith

December 5, 1939 – June 17, 1994

Mary Lou (Keller) Smith, 54, died at 11:20 a.m. Friday, June 17, 1994, at her home following a lengthy illness.

Born in Guthrie, Oklahoma on December 5, 1939, she was the daughter of Jessie Lowrie and Alyce Kewpie Billings Keller. She was a 1958 graduate of Perry high school.

On April 5, 1959, she and fellow PHS alumni, Michael Underwood, were married in Perry. At the time of their marriage Michael was serving in the Navy stationed at Key West, Floria. Mary Lou was able to join him in 1960 when he was transferred from Key West to Ream field in California. The couple were blessed with two daughters before Michael’s untimely death in a car accident in 1970.

She later was married to Lawrence Pierre Smith, who survives at the home in Arkansas. To this union a daughter was born.

In addition to the death of her first husband, Michael, she was preceded in death by her parents, Jess and Alyce Keller.

Survivors include: three daughters, Michelle Ross, Texarkana, Texas, Lori Bird, Pine Bluff, Ark., and Alicia Smith of the home; four grandchildren; and two sisters, Carlene Armstrong, Slidell, La.. and Sherri Arcola, Perry.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday, June 20, 1994, at the Procter Funeral home at Camden, Ark. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Camden.
