Sidney Wade “Sid” Groom
March 25, 1949 — April 27, 2025
Sidney Wade Groom, 76, affectionately known as “Sid,” passed away peacefully at his farm home on April 27, 2025.
Born in Perry, Oklahoma on March 25, 1949, he was the son of Max and Juanita Groom.
A proud 1968 graduate of Perry High School, Sid pursued further education at Oklahoma State University, where he studied aeronautics. However, his true passion lay in farming and ranching. Throughout his life, he dedicated himself to raising wheat and cattle, combining his love for the land with a robust work ethic that defined his character.
In April of 1970, Sidney was united in marriage to Linda Sue Fansler. Together, they built a life enriched by their shared values and commitment to family. Sadly, both Linda and their daughter, Amy Groom, preceded him in death.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Sid enjoyed seeking out various interests; he loved welding and building things while also possessing a yearning to fly and a great appreciation for history. These hobbies allowed him to explore new avenues, but his heart always remained anchored in the land he worked and the family he adored.
Survivors include: his son, Wade Groom, who resides in Perry, Oklahoma; his brother, Darrell Groom, from Moore, Oklahoma; and his beloved grandchildren, Peyton and Clayton Groom. He also shared a close bond with his cousin, Ethel Groom Coe, also from Perry.
Funeral services be at 2 PM Monday, May 5 at the Dighton Marler Funeral Home, located at 203 East Fir Avenue, Perry, OK 73077. Burial will follow at Grace Hill Cemetery.
