– is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Noah Schmidt, 915 Grove street, and was born Aug. 27, 1949, in Fairview. He is a member of the Maroon band and was in the Tri-State honor band. Bookeeping is his favorite subject and working on cars is his hobby. He plans to attend Southwest Automotive school following graduation.

Michael Delane Schmidt

August 27, 1949 – September 4, 1971

Michael D. Schmidt, of Ringwood, Oklahoma died in a high speed automobile crash at 11:30 p.m. Saturday on a curve on a county road three fourths of a mile south of Ringwood.

Born at Fairview, Oklahoma on Aug. 27, 1949, he was the son of Noah Iven and Lillian Faye Jantzen Schmidt. The family moved to Perry when he was five years old. Following his graduation from Perry high school in 1967, he entered the National Guard at Perry.

Schmidt was activated into the Army in 1968 and served 19 months in Germany. Upon separation from service, he lived at Crescent for a short time before moving to Ringwood.

He was employed by W. W. Oil Well Service of Crescent.

Survivors include one son, Michael Lelvan, Guthrie; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Noah Schmidt; three brothers, Curtis, Rusty and Rocky, and two sisters, Saundra and Penny, all of Ringwood; and his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Susie Schmidt, Livingston, Calif.

Funeral will be at 10 a. m. Wednesday at the Church of God in Christ Mennonite church at Fairview, Oklahoma. Burial will be in Cedar cemetery, Fairview.
