Thelma Lou Lambert

– the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Guy H. Lambert, 1003 Tenth, was born at Morrison 17 years ago. She attended grade school at Morrison and Perry.

She is a member of the Rainbows, Red Hots, RRF, and the national honor society. She was a member of the junior national honor society in 1939-40 and 1940-41; the glee club in 1940-41 and 1941-42; Red Hots in 1942-43 and 1943-44; senior national honor society in 1942-43 and 1943-44; senior play 1944; junior play 1943; student council 1938-39 and is now a member of the Teen Town council.

After graduation she expects to enroll at Central State Teachers college at Edmond.

Thelma Lou (Lambert) Sughru

November 17, 1926 – October 26, 2022

Thelma Lou Sughru, 95, went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 26, 2022.

Born in Morrison, Oklahoma on November 17, 1926, she was the daughter of Guy Harold and Gertrude Elizabeth Lambert. She graduated from Perry High School where she was chosen the “Senior Girl Best Citizen.” Her family moved to Edmond where she graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma (Central State College) in 1947. Thelma had many accolades while attending college. She was an honor student, a member and named queen of the Shakespeare club, was society editor of the 1947 Bronze Book, was a affiliated with Alpha Phi Sigma and the Kappa Delta Pi, national honor society in education, and received the alumni award of 1947.

Following her college graduation she began her career in education as secretary and assistant to the office of Dean of Men at Central State College. On October 12, 1947, she married a fellow CSC alumni, William Clay Sughru, in Oklahoma City. The couple were blessed with four children. They divorced in 1968.

A life-long teacher, she began her 26-year career with Oklahoma Public School system as a teacher at Andrew Johnson Elementary School. She was also a Curriculum Consultant at the Central Office and a principal at Burbank Elementary and West Nichols Hills Elementary.

Thelma was a faithful member and leader of her church, Village Christian Church, since 1959. She felt blessed to journey through the Holy Land twice in her life.

She was a woman of many interests and talents. She enjoyed traveling, especially family cruises and trips to the Caribbean.

Preceding her in death were: her parents; her grandson, Brian Stolfa; sisters-in-law, Harlene Lambert, Dorothy and husband Don Wallar, Arcelia and Kenneth Beals, and Lois Sughru; and brother-in-law, Pat Sughru and wife Katie.

Thelma is survived by her four children: Chuck Sughru and wife Lou, Jim Sughru and wife Mary, Carol Stolfa, and Sharon Sughru; 5 grandchildren, Michael and wife Christy Sughru, Jeff Sughru, Lacey and husband Casey, Megan Sughru and Jeff Anshutz, and Chris Stolfa; 5 great-grandchildren, Sophia, Sam, Izzy, Hadley and Jackson. Also surviving are: two brothers, Wayne Lambert, and Bill Lambert and his wife Mary; and many wonderful nieces and nephews and other beloved family members.

A funeral service will occur Friday, November 4, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Baggerley Funeral Home, Edmond, Oklahoma. Interment will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
