Eugene Francis Lawson

January 29, 1929 – November 6, 2014

Gene Lawson, 85, a former resident of Perry, Oklahoma, passed away on Thursday, November 6, 2014, at Mapleton Care Center in Lakewood, Colorado.

Born in Edmond, Oklahoma on January 29, 1929, he was the son of Ernest Albert and Della Marie Stevens Lawson. The family moved to Perry, where Eugene graduated from Perry high school in 1947. He served in the U.S. military with 12 months overseas duty in Korea. Upon his discharge he returned to Perry and served as pitcher for the Perry Saints baseball team.

On December 28, 1952, Eugene and Allene Ruth Baker were married at Denver, Colorado. They made their home in Edmond and Denver, where he worked as a bulldozer operator.

He loved his family very much, but his love of bulldozers, heavy equipment, and the oil field were always in high competition.

Preceding him in death were: his parents; two brothers, Ernest (Ernie) Lawson Jr, and Charles Lawson; and a sister, Sally Lawson.

He is survived by: his wife, Allene, who still resides in Lakewood, CO; his 10 children; 27 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews; his brothers LaVaughn Lawson of Perry, OK and Mike Lawson of Mustang, OK; and sister, Grace Warner of Mustang, OK.

A memorial service will be held at the West Alameda Community Baptist Church at Eaton Senior Communities at 333 S. Eaton St., Lakewood, CO, 80226 at 1 p.m. Burial will be at the Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Colorado.
