Ida Belle (Hollingshead) Walker
January 22, 1927 – April 5, 2022
Ida Belle Walker, 95, of Iowa City, IA, went to heaven on April 5, 2022 after a long full life.
Born in Kay County, Oklahoma on January 22, 1927, she was the daughter of Claude Wilbur and Ora Belle Mitchell Hollingshead. She graduated from Perry high school in 1947.
On February 16, 1949, Ida Belle married Robert Joseph Walker Sr. in Enid, Oklahoma. They spent most of their lives on a farm south of Iowa City, Iowa. She was a devoted wife and mother to her many children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She worked for Headstart and Sheller Globe, where she was a forklift driver, when she retired.
Her life-long hobbies included gardening, crocheting, quilting, and sewing. She was a long time member of the Sand road Mennonite church, before it closed, then became a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Lone Tree, IA.
Preceding her in death were: her husband of 55 years, Robert; parents; brothers, Jesse Hollingshead, Ralph Hollingshead, Orie Hollingshead and Thomas Hollingshead; son, Philip Walker; and 3 grandchildren, Casey Jay Walker, Christina Marie Healey, and Richard Joseph Vickroy.
Survivors include: her children, Carolyn Hacker, Lindy Snider, Robert (Joe) Walker Jr., C. Henry Walker, Miron Walker, Charles Walker, Terry Walker, James Walker, Mike Walker, John Walker, Benjamin Walker, Clinton Walker, Sarah Goering, Carol Dominguez, Judy Ridgway; 51 grandchildren; 44 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; and her sister Ruth Goody.
Services will be held on Sunday, April 10, 1 pm, at the Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service, 2720 Muscatine Ave., Iowa City. Interment will be at the Walker Cemetery, Johnson County, Iowa.
