A college course with preparation for work in dietetics is the next goal of Dixie Donaldson, daughter of Leland Donaldson of 924 Delaware street.
Dixie, an honor student, was born July 10, 1930, in Tulsa, but has always attended school here. She has been in the band, and served on the student council this year, was on the office staff from 1945 to 1947, worked in the library 1945-46, is a member of the Distributive Education club, and is listed in “Who’s Who in High Schools” this year.

Dixie Ann (Donaldson) Kenefake, 93 years old, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2024, in Beeville, Texas.
Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on July 10, 1930, she was the daughter of Leland William and Annabel (Ellis) Donaldson. She graduated from Perry high school in 1948 and worked as a bookkeeper for Randall Motors in Perry, OK.
Dixie met David Andrew Kenefake when he came to Randall Motors to make his car payments. They married on October 6, 1951, in Perry. David worked for Tidal Pipline Company. When the firm’s operation in Perry was taken over by the Cimarron Valley Pipline Co. in 1953, he was transferred to Texas, where they lived in multiple cities. Together they raised three wonderful sons.
She was a dedicated treasurer at the First Christian Church in Pettus, Texas for many years. In Normanna, Texas she was an active member of the VFD Ladies Auxiliary, Cub Scout Den Mother, and Pettus ISD Band and Athletic Booster Organizations. Dixie also served many years as Postmaster Relief in Normanna and had a passion for various hobbies including quilting, baking, gardening and sewing.
Preceding her in death were: her parents; her loving husband of 65 years, David, who passed away in 2017; brother, Willis Fayette Donaldson; and sisters, Helen Mae Williams and Fern Ida Roberts.
Survivors include three sons, Dan (Barbara) Kenefake of Canton, Dean (Karen) Kenefake of Sugar Land and Daryl Kenefake of The Woodlands; seven grandchildren, David Keith (Sara) Kenefake, Tyler Christian Kenefake, Garrett Reid (Joy) Kenefake, Christopher Alan (Yrnel) Kenefake, Kurt Andrew Kenefake, Alexandra Nicole (Andrew) Wolf and Dustin Ryan Kenefake; six great-grandchildren, Dean Austin Kenefake, Lillie Anne Kenefake, Rett Wiley Kenefake, Andrew Francisco Kenefake, Dixie Grace Kenefake and Matilyn Danielle Kenefake; sister, Nancy Bay; nephew, Craig Bay; and nieces, Amie Simmons, Susan Ellis and Jan Morton.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at First Christian Church in Pettus, Texas with Rev. Clifford Archer officiating. Interment will follow in the San Domingo Cemetery in Normanna, Texas.
