John Jacob Jasper Shea
December 5, 1902 – October 28, 1971
John Shea, 68, 1102 Sixth street, Perry, died at 12:10 a.m. Saturday in Perry Memorial hospital following a lengthy illness.
Born in Kingston, Oklahoma on December 5, 1902, he was the son of William and Mary Ovelena “Lena” Harrison Shea. He graduated from Perry high school in 1925.
On Jan. 29, 1927, he was married in Perry to Gladys Knori, who survives. He had worked in the oil field since a young man, and had served as a driller and was in the production department from 1957 until 1969. He moved to Perry in 1918 from Sumner.
Survivors in addition to his wife include one daughter, Mrs. Harold (Evelyn) Meeks, Stillwater; one son, Bob Shea, Haskell, Texas; seven sisters, Mrs. Dovie Webber, Mrs. Nell Wie-derkehr and Miss Daisy Shea of Perry; Mrs. Maggie Casparis, Red Rock; Mrs. Dorthy DeVil-biss, Austin, Texas; Mrs. Bestina Uhl, Midland, Texas; and Mrs. Virginia Burton, Tulsa; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Services will be Monday in Newton chapel, Perry, with Rev. Don Harnden, pastor of First Prebyterian church, officiating. Burial will be in Grace Hill cemetery.
