Willis Hayes came to Perry from Rosston where he started his high school education. He has participated in several sports. He played three years baseball and has had two years in track. Willis was born Nov. 5, 1932, in Covington and attended grade school in Rosston. He is a member of the Perry Future Farmers of America and is the son of L. L. Hayes, route 4, Perry. He is planning to take up farming following his graduation.

Willis Melvin Hayes, 86, of Rosston, OK passed away on December 24, 2018 at his home near Rosston, OK.

Born at the family farm home northeast of Douglas, Oklahoma, he was the son of Lloyd Lester and Hazel Pearl (Forbis) Hayes. He graduated from Perry high school in 1950.

Willis married Hazel Marie Furgason at Buffalo, Oklahoma on October 28, 1951. They lived in a little two room house north of the home place until Willis was drafted into the Army in December of 1952. He moved to Camp Roberts in California for basic training. Afterwards, Willis and Hazel moved to Bremerton, Washington, where he served at Fort Lawton training in anti-aircraft skills. After being discharged in December of 1954, they moved back to Rosston, where they resided until his death.

He always enjoyed family get-to-gathers and being around family and friends. He loved the life they built on the farm which was his passion. He worked numerous jobs, including carpentry, Unit Drilling, and L & L Dirt.

Preceding him in death were: his wife; his parents; one sister, Francis Irene Jones; one brother Lloyd Duane Hayes; and two grandsons, Cody Jo Morris, and Jason Lloyd Love.

Survivors include his daughters, Teresa Ann (Terry) Bozarth and husband, Melvin of Laverne, OK, Wilma Jo (Jody) Morris and husband, Bruce of Laverne, OK, Linda Lee Price and husband, Randy of El Reno, OK, Brenda Marie Anderson and husband, Danny of Slapout, OK, and Connie Jean Love and husband, Doug of Laverne, OK. Thirteen grandchildren Tricia and Brent Tiede of Wichita, KS, Willis and Ashley Morris of Rineyville, KY, Melvin Bozarth, Jr and April of Laverne, OK, Mandy and Eric Freeburg of Thomas, OK, Nikki and Lee Akins of Arnett, OK, Francis and Chance Longo of Midland, TX, Kelli and Brock Perryman of Ninnekah, OK, Holly and Scott Petrick of Gate, OK, Megan Price and James of Hinton, OK, Kyle and Katie Love of Laverne, OK, Bradley Love and Krystan of Laverne, OK, Danielle Anderson of Woodward, OK, and Joshua Love and Jordon of Laverne, Ok. Twenty six great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Also, surviving are two sisters, Joyce Ann Little of Rosston, OK, Deloris Pearl Williams of Needles, CA, and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Services will be at 2:00 PM, on December 28, 2018 at the Laverne Methodist Church, 302 Jane Jayroe Blvd., Laverne, OK. Interment will be at the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Rosston, Oklahoma.
