Mrs. Wanda Busse plans to become a housewife after graduation from PHS. She is the 17-year-old daughter of Mrs. Eula Hodge, route 4, Perry. Born in Perry July 20, 1935, she received her grade schooling at Morrison, Tulsa, and Perry. While in high school she was a member of the Red Hots pep club. Her husband is Clifford Busse.

Wanda Lou (Sargent) Edwards

Wanda Lou Edwards peacefully passed from this life in Stroud, OK, on July 14, 2023.

Born in Perry, Oklahoma on July 20, 1935, she was the daughter of Harold Sargent and Eula (Tuttle) Hodge. Wanda was one of four children born to her parents. While in her senior year at Perry High school, on December 29, 1952 she and Clifford Busse were married. She continued her education and graduated with the class of 1953. The couple were blessed with a son and a daughter. Wanda married James Elmo “Corky” Edwards Jr. in 1960. They were married 62 years and were blessed with a son.

Wanda’s work career was in Parasitology for 25 years at Oklahoma State University.

She enjoyed spending her time working for the Lord. She enjoyed working with the kids at the church’s Vacation Bible School, spending time in the nursery with the little ones, and teaching at Sunday school.

After retirement, she spent many days following her grandsons’ baseball and football games through many different states and her granddaughters in their pageants, FFA and track & field. When not with her family and her church family, Wanda was an avid bowler spending any free time with her bowling league.

Preceding her in death were: her parents; husband, Corky in 2022; sister, Billie; and son-in-law, Mike Herring.

Survivors include: her son, Chris Busse of Oklahoma City; daughter, Tawni Sigrist of Edmond; son, Eric Edwards and wife Stacy of Mannford; eight grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and great-great grandchildren; sister, Ethel McNeil, of Edmond; and brother, Leo Sargent of Perry.

A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, July 20, 2023, at 3pm at the First Baptist Church in Yale, Oklahoma. Interment will be at the Lawson Cemetery in Yale, Oklahoma.
