January 21, 1941 – October 30, 2023

Jerry Wayne Litterell, 82, of Oklahoma City, OK, passed away on October 30, 2023.

Born in Oklahoma on January 21, 1941, he was the son of Melvin James and Edna Lela (Jones) Litterell. Jerry lost sight in his left eye from a knife wound as an infant. Following his junior year at Perry high school, he lost sight in his right eye from a piece of flying metal while working at a summer job at the Smith Trucking Co. He continued his education at the Oklahoma School for the Blind where he graduated in 1960 and Oklahoma State Tech, Okmulgee, Oklahoma.

In November, 1960 Jerry married his high school sweetheart, Myrtle Colleen Litterell Parton. They were married for almost 64 years, raised a loving family, and built a strong foundation. He was a hardworking and determined man who never allowed his blindness to hinder his success.

Jerry proudly served in the Oklahoma National Guard and later worked for the State of Oklahoma Division of Visual Services. Despite his visual impairment, he excelled in his career and was an inspiration to those around him.

In his free time, Jerry enjoyed fishing, playing dominoes, driving 4-wheelers, golf carts, and scooters, and playing video games. He lived life to the fullest and embraced every opportunity that came his way.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Ronald Lee Litterell.
