Mrs. Joy Bounds, 17, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dillard Winn, 312 Twelfth street, plans to return to El Paso, Texas following graduation from PHS this month. She was born Aug. 12, 1939, in Haynesville, La., and has attended school in Louisiana and El Paso in addition to here. In other schools she was a member of the band, served two years as a class officer, three years in 4-H club work, two years in the pep squad, three years in Future Homemakers, was a member of the League of Letters one year and the a cappella choir one year. Her favorite subject is Problems of American Democracy. Hobbies are talking and reading.

Juanita Joyce “Joy” (Winn) Bounds

August 12, 1939 – April 28, 2020

Juanita “Joy” Winn Bounds, 80, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2020, at her residence in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana.

Born in Hanesville, Lousiana on August 12, 1939, she was the daughter of Dillard and Leecy (Mills) Winn.

Following her marriage to fellow PHS alumnus, Melvin Leroy Bounds, on February 9, 1957, she graduated from Perry high school. The couple moved to El Paso, Texas where they made their home and raised their family.

Joy served as the After-School Director at St. Leo-Seton Catholic School for 16 1/2 years prior to her retirement.

Preceding her in death were: her husband, Melvin, in 2006; parents; and sisters, Bobbie Mallet and Ruby Milan.

Survivors include: her sons, Danny Bounds of Las Vegas, Nev., Stephen Bounds and his wife Rhonda of Breaux Bridge, La., and Mark Bounds of Colorado Springs, Colo.; brother, Roy Winn and his wife Cindy of Texas; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private graveside service will be held.
