Betty Ewy was vice president of the freshman class in Sumner and played on their basketball team for one year. Since she has been in Perry high school, she has taken interest in the Distributive Education club.

A position as bookkeeper is her desire after graduation. She would probably be well fitted for such a position as her favorite subject in school has been bookkeeping.

Miss Ewy was born Sept. 17, 1931, in Perry, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Ewy, 123 Delaware street. She attended Oak Grove grade school and spent two of her high school years in Sumner.

Her hobby will some day run into money; it’s collecting silver dollars.

Betty Lou (Ewy) Price, 93, passed away peacefully at her home in Perry, Oklahoma, on March 8, 2025.

Born in Perry, Oklahoma on September 17, 1931, she was the daughter of Harold “Buck” and Luella (Chenoweth) Ewy. She was one of six siblings: Melvin “Bub” Ewy, Vicky (Ewy) Beier, Dan Ewy, Connie Ewy (who preceded her in death), and Ruth Ewy (who also preceded her in death).

Betty graduated from Perry High School before marrying Lenard James. Together, they had three children: Galen James, Dennis James (who preceded her in death), and Donna (James) Jones. She was a proud and devoted mother, always supporting her children in everything they did.

In addition to her role as a mother, Betty was a cherished grandmother to six grandchildren: Joshua James, Jeremy James, Levi Jones, Makila (Jones) Robinski, Dylan James, and Cale James. Her legacy continues with 16 great-grandchildren, whom she loved dearly and took great pride in.

Betty had a long and fulfilling career, including serving as the postmaster in Morrison, Oklahoma. Later in life, she enjoyed running her own rental property business. She enjoyed creating beautiful, handcrafted gifts using a variety of media, including paint, wood, and sewing. Betty also enjoyed spending time square dancing and made her own beautiful dresses.

A memorial service will be held in her honor on March 28, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the Perry Church of the Nazarene, located at 829 Jackson St., Perry, OK 73077. Interment will be at Grace Hill cemetery, Perry.
