Doris Friend plans to keep house for her husband following graduation from high school this spring. Doris is the 18-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herb Dahl and was born Jan. 3, 1937, at Orlando. She moved with her parents to Noble county in 1954. She attended Orlando school until this year when she entered the Perry high school. She was a member of the Red Hots pep club this year and was a member of the Orlando band during her sophomore year and a member of the Orlando girls basketball team her sophomore year. Doris enjoys cooking and sewing. Home economics was her favorite high school subject.
Doris June (Dahl) Friend
January 3, 1937 – August 25, 2025
Doris June Friend, affectionately known as “Grandma Friend” to everyone, passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior, on August 25, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Born in Orlando, Oklahoma on January 3, 1937, she was the daughter of Herb and Opal (Gouch) Dahl. Doris attended grade school in Orlando and graduated from Perry School.
She married Ronald Friend on November 24, 1954 at the First Christian Church in Perry, Oklahoma. To this union they were blessed with 5 precious children. Doris and Ronnie lived in Wewoka, Oklahoma before moving back to Perry in 2003.
Doris enjoyed spending time on the farm raising cattle, riding four wheelers, and spending time with her family. Doris was especially gifted at sewing and quilting, often making special pieces for her family and close friends. Doris worked hard right alongside her husband on their family farm and reaped the many blessings of their efforts.
The couple traveled to many special places together and enjoyed a full and happy life at each other’s side. A piece of Doris passed away when Ronnie unexpectedly died on August 5, 2005.
Preceding her in death were: her husband, Ronnie Friend; parents, Herb and Opal Dahl; daughter, Debbie Sadler; grandson, Chris Sadler; and brother, Johnny Dahl.
Survivors include: sons, Mickeal (Judy) Friend and Bobby (Karen) Friend); daughters, Brenda (Terry) Harmon and Ronda (Dennis) Meyers; grandchildren, Ashley (Billie) Hall, Jason (Tonya) Friend, Brian (Aimee) Friend, Roslynn Friend, Mickeal Friend, Charity (Tim) Moxley, Nicole Reaves, Lee (Lindsey) Harmon, Lance (Brittany) Harmon, and Lyle (Katie) Harmon; sister-in-law, Willa Dahl; and several great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 1 PM on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at Grace Hill Cemetery Pavilion. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial check donations be made out to Elara Caring Hospice, 600 West Independence, Suite 900, Shawnee, OK 74804.
