Wendell and Carol moved to the city of Perry in 1992 and continued to run a business on the south side of the square till 2009. After closing their business, he worked many years at Wittwer Construction south of Perry.

For years, Wendell was an active volunteer Reserve Deputy Sheriff and had many stories to tell about his adventures all over Noble County. In his spare time, he was an avid hunter and fisherman. In his later years, he enjoyed gardening, producing much more than they could ever consume with the intent purpose of sharing it with neighbors and friends.

Preceding him is death were: his parents; wife, Carol; daughter, Connie Sullins Roberts; and his siblings, Robert Sullins, Richard (Dick) Sullins, Wilma Condit, and Vera Bolay.
