Tommy Davis, 17, was an all-conference tackle this past year as a member of the Perry Maroon football team. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. F. T. Davis, route one, Perry. Davis was born August 1, 1943, in Drumright and came to this county in 1948. In addition to football, he has participated in track and wrestling. Tommy was in the junior play, all-school revue, and took part in the chemistry assembly. His favorite subject is shorthand and hobbies are hunting and fishing. He will attend Northern Oklahoma Junior college.
Floyd Thomas “Tom” Davis
August 1, 1943 — March 25, 2026
Floyd Thomas “Tom” Davis, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, and a cherished member of our community passed away early on March 25, 2026.
Born on August 1, 1943, in Drumright, Oklahoma, he was the son of Floyd Thomas “Jack” Davis and Opal Alene Davis. He was raised in Perry, Oklahoma, with his three brothers Jimmy, Bobby, and Johnny Paul. On September 22, 1962, he married the love of his life Carolyn Sue Davis and together they raised two boys.
Tom was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved the outdoors. He traveled all over the country going on many hunting and fishing trips with his family and friends. Tom loved sharing his passion with his grandkids taking them hunting and fishing any chance he got. Tom was deeply involved in the the Perry community, giving his time to many clubs, organizations, and committees. He was active in the Take Down Club, and Quarterback Club, served as President of Noble County Trap Association, was a member of the Centennial Celebration Committee, a proud member of the Perry Alumni Association, and helped organize the class of 61’ reunion every year. Tom always went all in with everything he did, including his passion for fireworks. In 1958 as a teenager Tom traveled across the country helping his uncle Dean set up firework shows. In 1962 he began shooting off fireworks in the OSU stadium, and in 1982 Tom organized, prepared, and shot off the fireworks for Perry’s first firework show. With the help of family and friends, Tom continued organizing and producing Perry’s fireworks show for many years, stepping back only in recent years. Tom was a general manger of ditch witch of Florida, owned Big D construction company, and oil field services in Oklahoma.
Tom was proceeded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Carolyn Davis, parents Jack and Opal Davis; brother Jimmy Davis and wife Vernona; and his brother Bobby Davis.
Tom is survived by his children Rusty Davis of Perry and Randy Davis and wife Gaye of Stillwater. Brother Johnny Paul Davis and wife Dana. He was proud to be called “Papa” by his grandchildren Dr. Katie Cantrell and husband Blay of Stillwater, Kort Davis of Perry, Logan Davis of Edmond, Natalie McCarty and Husband Connor of Stillwater. He was also a very proud great-grandfather to Benjamin Thomas “Benny” Cantrell. He was a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 10 am Tuesday, March 31, 2026, in the first Baptist Church with Pastor Kim Hays. Interment will follow in the Grace Hill cemetery of Perry, OK.
