Horace Speed Dolezal

August 30, 1894 – June 22, 1977

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Presbyterian church of Perry for Horace Dolezal, 82, Henderson, Tex., formerly of Perry, who died at 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, 1977, at the Medical center at Tyler, Tex. Rev. Donald Harnden, pastor of the First Presbyterian church, will officiate. Burial will be at Grace Hill cemetery under direction of Parker Funeral home.

Born Aug. 30, 1894, at Perry, Dolezal was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joe Dolezal Sr. Dolezal was a 1914 graduate of Perry high school. He and Zella Marchbanks were married in July, 1919, at Pawnee. Mrs. Dolezal preceded him in death in 1951. Dolezal served as Noble county court clerk from Jan. 1, 1921 until Dec. 31, 1928. He and his wife moved to Nevada in 1937, where Dolezal was engaged in the mining business.

Dolezal retired in 1974 and moved to Henderson. He was a World War I veteran, having served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Tank Corps. He was a member of the Presbyterian church and was a charter member of the Ellis-Jirous American Legion post of Perry. The local post was chartered Sept. 23, 1919. Dolezal served as commander of the Ellis-Jirous post in 1930.

Survivors include four brothers, W. T. (Bill) Dolezal, Carrollton, Texas; George and Frank Dolezal, both of Perry; and Alfred Dolezal, Henderson; two sisters, Mrs. Maxine Kingelin, Henderson; and Miss Irene Dolezal, Perry; and an aunt, Mrs. Charles Guthrie, Perry. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Dolezal Jr.
