Sidney Darwin Berry

March 8, 1925 – November 14, 1997

Sidney Darwin Berry, 72 of Okc, passed away Friday. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 17, 1997, at Zion Lutheran Church, 7701 West Britton Road, with Rev. Ron Christie officiating.

Mr. Berry was born March 8, 1925, in Three Sands, Ok., the son of Della & William Berry. Following high school graduation from Perry, Ok, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War.

Mr. Berry retired from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol in 1970 after 24 years services. He worked for Oklahoma Farmers Union for the following 8 years as an insurance adjuster. Mr. Berry was a member of the Oklahoma Troopers Association, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Oklahoma Claims Insurance Association. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Okc for 42 years where he faithfully served in many areas of the church.

Survivors include his wife, Olinda; sons, Richard Berry of Muskogee, Steven Brown of Okc, and John Brown of Sugarland, Tx; 5 grandchildren, Jeff Berry, Eric Brown, Amy Berry, Jennifer Brown and Ashley Brown.

Interment will be in the Resurrection Cemetery under the direction of Guardian West in Okc. Pallbearers will be Jim Berry, John Blaney, Ken Casey, Louis Kastens, and Robert Kastens. Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Kiefer and Loren Pricer. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol Honor Guard will honor Mr. Berry for his service as an Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper. Memorial donations may be made in Sidney’s name to Zion Lutheran Church.
