Lillie C. (Lau) Lighty

March 27, 1910 – September 10, 1996

Lillie Lighty, 86, long-time Perry community resident, died at 12:15 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, 1996, at Perry Memorial hospital.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Calvary Baptist church. Rev. Roger Dunn, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Grace Hill cemetery under direction of Brown Funeral home. Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist church.

Mrs. Lighty was born March 27, 1910, south of Hayward. Her parents were Emil and Carrie Lau. She graduated from Perry high school and attended Oklahoma A&M college.

She and Roy Lighty were married June 1, 1930. Mrs. Lighty taught at Willow Creek and Rose Hill rural schools in Noble county and served as a dietitian at Perry elementary school for 20 years.

Mrs. Lighty was a member of Calvary Baptist church, Happy Home club, the Retired Teachers association and Friendly Community Fellowship.

She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers and one sister.

Among survivors are two sons, Donald Lighty, Mulvane, KS, and Everett Lighty Perry; four grandchildren nine great-grandchildren and five sisters, Ethel Kirk, Jessie Carmack and Katherine Kemnitz, all of Perry, Ever, r Jerome, Norman, and Heler Beckham, Winfield, KS.
