Stewart Russell Beasley

December 27, 1910 – October 6, 1997

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Christian church in Perry for Stewart R. Beasley Sr., 86, 1203 Locust street. Burial will be in Grace Hill cemetery under direction of Brown Funeral home.

Beasley died at 7 a.m. Monday, Oct. 6, 1997 at Edmond. He was the son of Shadrick and Roxie (Alterman) Beasley and was born Dec. 27, 1910 in Noble county, north of Perry.

Beasley attended Noble county rural schools and was a 1928 graduate of Perry high school. He attended Oklahoma A&M.

On July 23, 1932, he and the former Mary Lou Orcutt were married at Pawnee. She preceded her husband in death in 1976.

Beasley served in the United States Army during World War II and was detained as a prisoner of war. He retired as Noble county engineer after 50 years of employment.

He had been a member of the Black Bear Conservation District since 1952 and served as secretary of that organization, was an assistant Scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts and a member of the American Legion.

Memorials may be made to the First Christian church or the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation.

Among survivors are a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Stewart “Skipper” and Lori Beasley, Edmond; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Lou and Jerry Grant, Las Vegas, NV; five grandchildren, Jennifer Dillard, Jason Dillard, Stewart Beasley III, Emory Beasley and Evan Beasley; and one great-grandson, Jason Dillard Jr.

In addition to his wife, Beasley was prceded in death by his parents, seven brothers, one sister and two children.
