Vocational agriculture is the favorite subject of Robert Kern Thiele, who plans to continue farm work and has plans to own a farm in the future. Karate and motorcycle riding are among his hobbies. Thiele was born Sept. 5, 1964, in Geneva, Ill. He attended Christ Lutheran school, kindergarten through grade six, and Perry public schools in grades seven through 12. He attended Indian Meridian Area vocational technical school one year. Thiele was a one year member of the band, football, and wrestling, and participated in elementary school basketball three years. He is a member of Christ Lutheran church and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Thiele, route three, box 169, Perry.

Robert Kern Thiele

September 5, 1964 – August 25, 1985

Robert Kern Thiele, 20, died at approximately 8:30 a.m. Sunday at his home four miles east and a mile and two-thirds south of Perry.

The son of Paul and Jane Thiele, he was born Sept. 5, 1964, at Geneva, Ill. He moved with his parents to the Perry community in 1967. While in high school, Thiele was active in the Future Farmers of America. He was a 1982 graduate of Perry high school. He was a member of Christ Lutheran church.

In addition to his parents, of the home, Thiele is survived by one brother, Richard Thiele, Iron Mountain, Mich.; four sisters, Cindy Fure and Joyce David, both of St. Charles, Ill.; and Jennifer Thiele and Shannon Thiele, both of the home; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Millett, Batavia, Ill.; paternal grandmother, Mrs. Otto Thiele, Perry; uncles and aunts, Mr. and Mrs. Phil Shieder, Schaunburg, Ill.; and Dr. and Mrs. Starling Miller and Mr. and Mrs. James Gottschalk, all of Perry; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Christ Lutheran church. Rev. Myron C. Maltz, the church pastor, will officiate. Burial will be at Christ Lutheran Richburg cemetery, east of Perry. A memorial has been established to benefit the Richburg cemetery privacy fence fund.
